I wrote "Caroline" during the recording process. We had already finished tracking and while my engineer was mixing some previous songs I emailed him a demo of it and we both agreed that "Caroline" should be on the album. There is a lot of hidden meaning behind this song, but I will let you all figure that out for yourselves.
Caroline, How I wanted just to touch you, Tell me why I had a dream that ended me and you
And when I saw your face it called my name and said that things have changed, just to fill your bloodless veins,
If you wanted change you should have spoke up, I know what it takes, Give you what you want, but now I see my open road, it’s all I know.
Caroline, How I want for you to see me, your faulty wings, God I knew it wasn’t true , that you could fly.
And When the roof caved in and skin peeled off, I was the one who held on to my truths and thoughts,
If you wanted change you should have spoke up, I know what it takes, give you what you want, but now I see my open road, It’s all I know
Caroline, all I have left you are my only hope, I’ve seen this through, I am the one who always calls on you ya know.
I am the one you are, I’m the one I am, it is the saving sun and this old guitar, If you wanted change, you should have spoke up I know what it takes, give you what you want, so take my hand and follow me home, your all I know
